Daryl Mitchell

Daryl Mitchell is an African American actor famous for roles on TV shows such as The John Larroquette Show, Veronica's Closet and ED. Before starting his acting career, Mitchell was a member of the 80's hip hop group Groove B. Chill. In the 1990's he began to dabble in television shows like The Cosby Show, Law and Order, Here and Now, Queen, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, In the House and Cosby; and films such as House Party, House Party 2, Boomerang, Rebound Sgt Bilko, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, Toothless, Quiet Days in Hollywood, Home Fries, 10 Things I Hate About You, Galaxy Quest and Lucky Numbers.

In 2001 Mitchell suffered a motorcycle accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down and confined him to a wheelchair. The following year that character of Eli Goggings was created for Mitchell in the TV show ED. The character had experienced a similar accident as that of Mitchell in real life, and was hired as a manager in the title character's bowling alley. On ED, he shared screen time with his Galaxy Quest co-star Justin Long. Undeterred by his paralysis or by the cancellation of ED, and encouraged by colleagues, Daryl Mitchell went back to films and television.

After his accident, Mitchell has gone on to appear on Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Eve, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, The Game, Brothers, Desperate Housewives, Wizards of Waverley Place and Traffic Light. He was also cast in the movies Black Knight, 13 Moons, The Country Bears and Inside Man. In 2010 he won an NAACP Imaged award for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series. Outside of acting, Mitchell started the Daryl Mitchell Foundation to spread awareness of spinal cord injuries, and is also a Minority Outreach spokesperson for the Christopher Reeve Foundation.
